Picture this: a diverse community of 25,000 people. Young, passionate students with big aspirations, all training for professional vocations. Many will become influential leaders, aiming to shape the fabric of our society in the coming years. 25,000 students... thinking, learning, setting the trajectory for the rest of their lives.
In 2008, Mission Canada appointed its first missionary to this largely unreached community: Humber College in Toronto, ON. With excitement, Trevor planted The Embassy at Humber.
Since then, Trevor’s aim has been to help students discover hope, purpose and life to its fullest (John 10:10) through the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Embassy exists to make mature, devoured disciples of Jesus and to equip them to help bring the transformation of God’s kingdom to their school, residences, and future workplace.
We believe that the years between 18-24 are some of the most formative in a person's development, and we are passionate about discipling students through this crucial stage of their lives.
The Embassy exists for two primary reasons:
1. To provide opportunities for believing students to gather regularly for fellowship and intentional discipleship. At The Embassy, students are equipped to be able to defend what they believe (i.e. 1 Peter 3:15) even while they navigate the secular school environment. Although studies show that large numbers of Christian young people walk away from faith during post-secondary, we are actively working to reverse these statistics.
2. To provide opportunities for non-believing students to explore the Christian faith, ask questions, and experience firsthand the love and grace of a gospel-centred community. We believe that the Christian faith can hold its own in the marketplace of ideas and has incredible explanatory power for the "big" questions of life ("Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going?"). We also believe that it's only through a relationship with Jesus Christ that the deepest desires of the human heart can truly find satisfaction.
We believe that our Canadian colleges and universities represent mission fields that require missionaries. Would you partner with us for the gospel at Humber?
